512 Cells - 512 Colors: Created from a Reduced Palette

A burst of color, cell by cell - all colors were created from just five pigments: Titanium White, True Yellow Light, Crimson, Cyan and Black. I wanted to see how many variations could develop from such a limited system.

For this painting, I layered various gradients, starting from a saturated base color, lightening with white or darkening with black, or mixing with one of the other base colors. This creates an overall image of vivid, luminous hues.
Each individual cell is made with slight changes in mixture, resulting in a total of 512 cells in 512 different colors. In the pictures below you can see some stages of this prcoess. The new layers adapt to the previous ones, creating an organic network like developing cells in nature.
